A young American girl hears God’s call to work in the jungle of Thailand, among a spirit-worshiping people: a people who cannot hear the truth of the gospel because their ears are stopped by fears and superstitions.
With vivid writing, the author portrays her anguish in slowly learning the things that are taboo and unacceptable to the villagers. She also relates her difficulty in making the gospel comprehensible in a foreign culture amidst seeming rejection.
A sudden fire devastates the villagers’ huts, miraculously leaving hers standing. Then the Lord deals with her questions, leading her to think His thoughts and changes the course of her life.
